Talk of the Town
Comment on “A rare win for
transparency,” (Editorial, 10/14/23)
via www.inquirer.net:
Along with the goodness of hearts among the members of the legislature is the
never-ending usage and mastery of the
English language. At any waking moment in many Filipinos’ lives, there is someone
crafting ways to steal, fleece taxpayer monies and it is akin to Manila
international airport workers trying to come up with ways such as “tanim bala,” “pastillas” scheme, to that one airport female employee stuffing her mouth
with stolen money, and no shortage of
embarrassment. The usage of the
word “confidential” was crafty at best, from “counterflow” to justify wrong
way of driving to “center seating”
(bus overloading). The word thick as
carabao’s hide or “kapalmuks”
is astounding.
